Creativity by sharing ideas

Posted on May 15, 2008

I fancy myself as something of a cross fertiliser – sort of like a bee – flitting from network to network, contact to contact sharing ideasĀ  and links as I go. The benefits to me are many fold – not least of which is that I get to meet and chat with lots of people from diverse backgrounds and often people that without an idea pinging between me and an existing contact I would not haveĀ  met.

And then I find that there is a word to describe this.

Xenogamy

How do I know this? Well Steve Roesler posted on employee engagement and it is in the A-Z list – and there must have been a sigh of relief to find that there was a word for X which could be included!

So what I do has a name. I shared this with a friend who also is expert in the practice of xenogamy – I like it even better the more I use it – and we hooted with laughter. It seems to me that meeting for coffee has a new found serious edge to it now.

Wonderful! I’m going to use that word in my Age of Conversation ‘08 chapter. It’s exactly the concept I was looking for.

    Thanks, Jackie!

It is the perfect word isn’t it! Glad you will be able to use it.
