Speak up – we can’t hear you!

Over the past few days I have been preparing public speaking skills workshops with fellow associates  of Speakersbank ahead of our trip to Shetland to work in schools there.  I have also been working with my colleagues at Edinburgh Napier University creating a presentation skills workshop for new students starting week after next.

Getting people talking out loud is my passion!

When I told a friend what I had been working on she cringed and said “oooh I would hate to have to do that” . By “that” she means stand up and speak in front of other people. Chatting with others  is no problem though – and she is a really interesting person with so much to offer.

We don’t all need to be speaking to packed auditoriums to have an impact. Speaking up in a meeting with some colleagues could make a huge difference.  I talked about this in my previous post about being afraid to admit to your own creativity. Sometimes that is because of lack of recognition and value of ideas . At other times it is being afraid to speak up – to actually have the words come out of your mouth so that others can hear them.

Staying quiet when you feel you have something to say does not serve you well.

If you would like some help to let you have your voice heard get in touch and we can schedule a  chat. I would love to hear your voice!
