Today I arranged to meet with my Mum who lives nearby. We are planning a birthday cake for my son who will be 21 next week. I don’t want to give anything away but we needed to visit the toyshop..
Anyway the big store is next to Marks & Spencer’s brand new - as in opening today - store in the east of the city . BIG mistake going there today (had we known we would have gone elsewhere) but we managed to get parked within a reasonable walking distance of the store.
Of course we had to go in to have a look. There was a great buzz. Some of the staff would be brand new today too and they were coping well. That was until I hit the tills.
The lovely lady who was scanning my groceries was having some trouble with the loose items and she was panicking a little. A few words of encouragement calmed her down and all was well until I dropped a bottle of their lovely chilli dipping sauce on the brand spanking new floor. It was sticky, red, and really pungent! But the manager came over - told me not to worry and that I had nothing to apologise for ( as I was apologising - big style) and sorted out a cleaner. Beautifully handled.
Now, if you have read yesterday’s post you will know that my experience of customer service is not always like that.
But…when I got home ( with the new bottle of chilli dipping sauce still intact) there was a note to say that a package had been left behind the wheelie bin at the side of our house. The delivery note said that it would be left somewhere safe, dry and out of sight. It had rained since it was delivered so it was not dry but now I am being picky.
Inside was a lovely bouquet of roses and freesia with a note from the lovely lady I spoke with yesterday offering me her sincere apologies.
Can’t say fairer than that. Well done to her!
